This is an in-person workshop to help you put the knowledge gathered by the Safeguarding Adults Board into practice, improving services and safeguarding for adults.
 
Description
 
Learning from case reviews and other multi-agency safeguarding work is an important way to improve day-to-day practice. 
 
There has been a significant amount of learning coming to the Safeguarding Adults Board:
 
  1. The Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SAR) that have been completed since 2020
  2. The findings of the first Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) annual report in 2024
  3. The themes from the Multi-Agency Risk Management (MARM) process
  4. The Analysis of Homeless Mortality Reviews (HMR) covering the 61 deaths that have occurred amongst those experiencing homelessness in Oxfordshire since 2020.
  5. The 2nd National SAR Analysis report, analysing the 652 SARs published nationally between April 2019 and March 2023
 
While the Safeguarding Board publishes its work and member agencies are asked to cascade learning with their organisation, these processes often highlight reoccurring challenges and themes such as information sharing and professional curiosity. 
 
So how can you best apply this insight to your day-to-day role? In this 3 hour workshop, you will explore the learning, reflecting on how these may present in your own/team/organisation and what you can do to help embed the learning into everyday work.
 
What will I learn?
 
You will learn through group discussion and reflective tasks to:
 
  • Examine how learning from case reviews and other multi-agency processes applies to different work environments and sectors
  • Explore emerging and reoccurring themes for learning and how these may present in your organisation
  • Delve into barriers to learning these repeating themes
  • Consider ways of taking learning back into your organisation and how to improve practice. 
 
Ahead of the training session you will be given some background reading that will support your participation in group discussions and reflective tasks.
